# Smart Meter Texas

> Connect Smart Meter Texas to KODE OS for 15-minute electric interval reads

> Connect Smart Meter Texas to KODE OS for electric meter data

## Overview

Use this integration to collect 15-minute electric interval reads and meter details from Smart Meter Texas. Each meter is discovered by ESIID and meter number.

| Property | Value |
| - | - |
| **System Type** | Meters |
| **Communication** | REST |
| **Collection** | Pull |
| **Collection Mode** | HISTORICAL |

## Supported capabilities

* Discover devices and points
* Collect sensor data
* Collect historical data

## Prerequisites

* A Smart Meter Texas API account
* The API URL, username, password, and Duns
* An agreement number for the meters you want to collect
* KODE OS access to `Data Sources`

## Configure the connector in KODE OS

1. Open `Data Sources` for your building.
2. Select `API Catalog`, then search for `Smart Meter Texas`.
3. Select `+ Add Datasource`.
4. Complete the connector fields, then validate credentials so KODE OS can load agreements.

| Field | Required | Type | Description |
| - | - | - | - |
| **Name** | Yes | text | Name that identifies this connection in KODE OS |
| **Area** | No | object | Area associated with the connection |
| **URL** | Yes | text | Smart Meter Texas API base URL |
| **Username** | Yes | text | API username |
| **Password** | Yes | password | API password |
| **Duns** | Yes | password | Duns number used with the API credentials |
| **Agreement Number** | Yes | dropdown or text | Agreement to collect. Options load after credentials validate. The field is a text box when no agreements are returned. |
| **Notes** | No | text | Additional connection details |

KODE OS requests a token with these credentials and refreshes it before it expires. Vendor timestamps use US Central time.

## Discover devices and points

After you save the connector, select `Discover`. Review the returned meters and points, then save the records you want in KODE OS.

Each meter uses the `electricMeter` canonical type. The device name is the meter number. Consumption and generation points appear only when that meter reports the series.

For more details, see the [Discovery guide](https://docs.kodelabs.com/products/integrations/capabilities/discovery.md).

## Devices and points

| Point | Description | Unit | Writable | Ontology field |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| `consumption` | 15-minute consumption interval reads | kWh | No | `total_import_energy_accumulator` |
| `generation` | 15-minute generation interval reads | kWh | No | `total_export_energy_accumulator` |
| `meterStatus` | Meter status code: `E`, `D`, `e`, `d`, or blank | -- | No | -- |
| `disconnect` | Disconnect code: `Y`, `N`, `y`, `n`, `W`, or `w` | -- | No | -- |
| `meterPhases` | Meter phase value | -- | No | -- |
| `KWHMeterMultiplier` | kWh meter multiplier | -- | No | -- |
| `reverseFlowHandling` | Reverse-flow handling: `Y`, `N`, `y`, or `n` | -- | No | -- |

## What data you get

### Point history

Each collection requests 15-minute interval reads. A full day has 96 intervals. Spring-forward days have 92, and fall-back days have 100. The default lookback is two days, and one request can cover up to 30 days.

Meter status, disconnect, phases, multiplier, and reverse-flow handling are collected with the meter details for the same meter.

### Polling schedule

* **Point history** — Default polling: 1 day (min: 1 day, max: 1 day)

For more details, see the [Data collection guide](https://docs.kodelabs.com/products/integrations/capabilities/data-collection.md).

## Use cases

Once connected, you can:

* Collect 15-minute consumption and generation for Texas electric meters
* Review meter status and disconnect codes beside the interval reads
* Use the meter data in energy dashboards and reports

## Troubleshooting

> [accordion] Authentication or connection error
>
> Confirm the API URL, username, password, and Duns. Run the connection test again after the token can be refreshed.

> [accordion] Agreement Number has no options
>
> Confirm the credentials can list agreements. If none are returned, type the agreement number into the text field.

> [accordion] Discovery returns no meters
>
> Confirm the selected agreement contains meters available to this account. Save the connector, then run `Discover` again.
